PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

It is important to prepare for your surgery in order to have a smooth and safe procedure. Please be sure to follow the pre-operative instructions for your surgical procedure below. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office where you will be having your procedure.


Pre-Operative Instructions for Surgery

  1. Patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the time of surgery.

  2. Wear a loose fitting short sleeve shirt and comfortable clothing.

  3. Wear flat soled shoes with proper ankle support, like sneakers (no heels).

  4. Remove all contact lenses, jewelry, and watches before surgery.

  5. Do not apply make-up, perfume, or cologne on the day of surgery.

  6. Remove any fingernail polish prior to surgery.

  7. Brush your teeth and thoroughly rinse your mouth prior to surgery.

  8. If prescribed medications, take as directed prior to surgery with a few sips of water.

  9. Do not smoke or consume alcoholic beverages within 24 hours of your surgery.


Patients Having IV Sedation

  1. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK 8 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY! YOU MUST HAVE A COMPLETELY EMPTY STOMACH!

    1a. If you need to take medications please take them with a small sip of water the morning of your procedure. Any questions, please call the office. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone surgery if instructions are not followed.

  2. Please have a driver to bring you to and from the office on the day of your procedure.

    2a. You will not be able to drive after surgery or operate any machinery.

    2b. Your driver should be a responsible adult that will stay with you until you are sufficiently recovered and able to care for yourself. This may take up to 24 hours.
